VMware CPU vMotion 호환성 확인해 대해 알아보겠습니다.

먼저 vMotion의 경우 온라인 중에 서버를 이동하는 기능으로 각 서버의 CPU 기능에 따라 vMotion이 안될 수 있기 때문에 필히 CPU vMotion 호환성을 체크해서 문제가 없는지 확인해야 합니다.

"What are you looking for : " 에서 오른쪽 화살표 클릭해서 "CPU Series"를 선택

 

 

 

다른건 모두 "ALL"로 선택하고 CPU를 확인하고자 하는 CPU를 선택합니다.

저는 Intel Xeon E5-2620 V3 와 E5-2690 V4를 확인하께요.

먼저 "Intel Xeon E5-2620 V3" ==> E5-2600 series V3 이므로 해당 품목 클릭 후

아래 "CPU / EVC Matrix" 클릭하면 아래에 정보가 나옵니다.

 

 

 

 

E5-2600 V3의 경우 아래 7개의 EVC 모드가 지원 되네요.

특이하게 그림에 표시된 "Broadwell" 이라는 모드가 1개 더 있네요.

이럴경우 vMotion이 정상적으로 안될 수 있습니다.

그래서 하드웨어 구성시 가급적이면 동일 CPU를 가진 서버로 구성하면 크게 문제가 없겠죠?

물론 이것도 해결 방법이 있습니다.

After EVC is enabled for a cluster in the vCenter Server inventory, all hosts in that cluster are configured to present identical CPU features and ensure CPU compatibility for vMotion. The features presented by each host are determined by selecting a predefined EVC baseline. vCenter Server does not permit the addition of hosts that cannot be automatically configured to be compatible with the EVC baseline.

vCenter 서버 인벤토리에서 EVC를 활성화해서 위에서 찾은 내용을 직접(?) 설정해야 합니다.
자동으로 설정되지는 않아요.
